Bio

From the shining lights stood an incredible voice throughout the crowd of thousands. I thought Hendrix was back! Performing with legendary blues artist James Cotton, Hubert Sumlin, Otis Rush, Lucky Peterson and many more stands a young man that is making sure that blues remains alive.

With a voice like fiery silk, playing the bass like the devil just came down and gave him Robert Johnson’s skills.Raised on the south side of comes fire! Charles Mack was born the son of L.C. and Willie Mae Mack who were from Aiken South Carolina. L.C., an incredible blues guitarist, inspired Charles to learn about blues and what blues is all about. Charles’s father, his aunt and uncle were the most incredible blues guitarist of their time. Even though they weren’t signed to a record label, many people have heard of them, especially his uncle Buddy Mack. Charles studied hard by listening to his family on guitar and singing. He learned every expression and feel that was put behind each note of the blues.

With over 20 years of experience, ranging from free-lance artist to lead artist. Charles Mack has dedicated his career to excellence within the field of music. From classical and contemporary jazz to blues, R&B and hip-hop, Charles’s virtuosity transcends genres. Charles started playing at the early age of 8, when he taught himself how to play piano, “The Creature Feature” Bass line was his first song. He performed with marching bands playing tuba, which landed him a scholarship to Tennessee As a bassist, Charles has performed with the army and navy bands nationally and internationally in small ensembles, jazz trios, big bands, rock bands, and country groups.

As a freelance musician, Charles has shared the stage with the alternative rock group Inflatable Soule, the rap group Cypress Hill, blues and R&B artist Ko Ko Taylor, James Cotton, Shemekia Copeland, Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Maria Muldaur, Marcia Ball, Lucky Peterson, Bernard Allison, Otis Taylor, Jimmy Johnson, and numerous Jazz ensembles. Not stopping there, Charles has also recorded with Cee Cee Peniston , Farly “Jackmaster” Funk and George Jackson of Ruff N’ Tuff Records.

Charles has a very strong internet presence, from his videos on youtube, yahoo, and many others.  Charles has developed a strong underground fan base and it is growing every day.  “Next Generation Blues” has more than 10,000 copies from his concerts in and out of the USA.

Currently, he has  released his album “Be My Crazy Dream” and will be doing a release tour on the west coast.  With all of the styles that he has learned over the years, he has developed a style that identifies him.  A mixture of soul, funk, blues, rock and folk, it’s a unique and moving blend.  The tour will start in April 2010.

  14. Paula Slow says:

I just watched the movie August Ruch, and the song that caught my ear, was Father’s Song, I, like all these other people loved the little I heard. It is not just a worship song, it is truly “annointed” by God himself. I believe that God annoints songs, even music without the words, so I do believe that this is “annointed” words and music. Powereful! Powerful!

God Bless, I want to hear more!

  15. bbong says:

just like the others, i would love to have a copy of the FATHER’S SONG. it moves the heart and stirs up the soul. the august rush production was right when they included your song in the movie and it is fitting to recognize such creation in a manner of having a copy of it. God bless..
